Explore the Kia Sorento

The grille, LED headlights, and daytime running lights at the front fascia enhance the striking appearance. The new Kia Sorento is wide and features the multi-reflector headlamps clusters. In addition, the roof rails, roof spoiler, LED brake lights, and 17-inch alloy wheels are standard. You can upgrade your Kia Sorento with 18-inch or 20-inch wheels, along with the X-Line styling package that adds a matte exterior trimming and badging.

Engine and Performance

Behind the front grille of the new Kia Sorento, you will get a 191-horsepower four-cylinder engine that delivers excellent acceleration. However, if you want more accelerating power from a stop, check out the optional turbo-four engine that churns out 281 horsepower. The base engine features an eight-speed automatic transmission for your journeys near Cary, while the optional engine comes with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic. Front-wheel drive is standard, and four-wheel drive is available.

The Kia SUV has agile handling. It is a capable off-roader, evident from its massive wheels and sufficient ground clearance. The towing capacity is 2,500 pounds with the base engine and 3,500 pounds with the optional turbocharged engine.

The base engine offers EPA-estimated fuel-efficiency ratings of 29 mpg on the highway and 24 mpg in the city. The optional turbo-four records 29 mpg and 22 mpg on the highway and city. Adding the all-wheel drive system will slightly drop the ratings.

Technology and Safety

The Kia Sorento appears well-equipped with tech features. Its infotainment system offers two touchscreen options that you can use as you travel around Durham, including a standard 8-inch screen and an optional 10-inch version. Apple CarPlay, a Bluetooth connection, HD radio, and Android Auto are standard on both touchscreens. The navigation system, satellite radio, and a voice recognition app are part of the optional 10-inch screen. You also have the option of getting a rear-seat entertainment system to keep your family engaged as you travel to Knightdale. Wireless device charging, an audio system, a 12-inch digital gauge cluster, proximity keyless entry, dual-zone automatic climate control, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror are also available for the Kia Sorento.

The updated Kia SUV has several safety features available to streamline your trips around Wake Forest, including:

  • Lane trace assist
  • Forward collision warning
  • A rearview camera
  • Lane departure warning
  • Pedestrian detection
  • Driver attention monitoring
  • A backup camera
  • Optional electronic parking brake

The new Kia Sorento is a seven-seater SUV. The first and second rows provide enough legroom and headroom to stretch out during long driving hours, while the third row is suitable for children or teenagers. Cloth upholstery, manually adjustable front seats, front and rear cupholders, center armrests, seatback storage pockets, and a locking glove box are standard amenities. However, you can get leather upholstery, power adjustments, heating and cooling options, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and other convenient features when you opt for the advanced package.

The cargo area behind the third-row seats is 12 cubic feet, and you can increase it by folding the third-row seats, resulting in 45 cubic feet. Furthermore, a child's car seat can get set up in the second row, involving a tether anchor and LATCH connectors.

How Does the Sorento Compare to Other Kia SUVs?

Like the other Kia SUVs that we carry, the new Kia Sorento offers engine options with great power. It is fuel-efficient and bulkier than some of the other SUVs from Kia, but not as large as the Kia Telluride. The larger and more luxurious Kia Carnival MPV and Telluride models offer more space and amenities, but they also come at a higher price. The new Kia Sorento is larger and more equipped than the Kia Sportage, Kia Niro, and Kia Seltos models. If you want an SUV that will stand out for its performance but not for its unique design, you'll probably prefer the Kia Sorento to the boxy shape of the Kia Soul. However, all models provide a variety of well-tuned amenities that are common for new Kia SUVs.
