2022 Kia Sorento Release

 

One of the most iconic and well know auto manufacturer, Kia, has always produced quality vehicles in all the segments and immensely improved their products and technology with time. Kia is popular for producing compact and full size SUVs, such as Sportage, Stonic, Seltos, Sorento and Telluride. Since 2002, Sorento has been one of the most important and top selling vehicles by Kia, which is a mid-size 7 seater SUV and offered in multiple trims with different engine options and varying features. Keeping in mind the importance of SUV boom in the market, Kia decided to renew Sorento for the upcoming 2022 model with a newer generation. The car would have an all new interior and exterior, engines and transmission with plenty of luxury and convenience options.

Kia announced the release of 2022 Sorento in early weeks of 2021 with an expected launch in mid-September 2021. Kia announced the pricing, powertrain details, all the specifications and features along with newer trims and warranty offerings at the time of press release. 

The starting MSRP of the new Kia Sorento would be $24,490 before taxes and freight, which barely a few hundred dollars more than the outgoing generation of Sorento. The vehicle requires regular maintenance, repairs and fuel costs for efficient and trouble free running. The average yearly maintenance cost to be incurred on 2022 Kia Sorento is expected to be roughly $550, while the expenditure on fuel would be $2,000/per year. 

The frequency of filling up the gas tank depends on the usage of the person and the fuel economy of the vehicle, keeping in consideration that a person has to travel 25 miles a day for commute and miscellaneous purposes, it would cost roughly $4 per 25 miles of distance and with a gas tank size of 18.8 gallons, $60 would be required to fill the tank as per current price of fuel. 

If we consider the real world circumstances and follow routine procedures of maintenance, the outgoing 2021 model of Kia Sorento requires certain maintenance and repairs over time that are advised and scheduled by the manufacturer. For instance, the procedures like oil change, filter change, belt and chain adjustment, ECU remapping, diagnostics, engine flush, plug and wire change, gear and radiator fluid replacement, suspension and bolts servicing, battery replacement, tire rotation and scheduled 20,000 and 50,000-miles maintenance, the expected cost of maintenance over a period of year is $550 and over 5-year period is $2,700. 

As the manufacturer is going to source the same parts for the upcoming 2022 Kia Sorento, the expected cost of maintenance and repairs to going to remain in the same range. New generation would only get cosmetic and a few powertrain updates that is not going to change the basic maintenance and other parts which require frequent changing, keeping the maintenance expenditure at existing cost. 

The all-new 2022 Kia Sorento has been completely revamped for the next generation and will be available with an array of new looks, features and powertrain options. The most significant change from the previous model is the addition of a hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrain that is offered with a 1.6 L turbocharged engine linked to 6-speed gearbox. This not only reduces the carbon emissions but also enhances the fuel economy figures by a good margin. 

The plug-in PHEV Sorento is expected to churn out an impressive 76 eMPG, with 32 miles as electric millage as well, which is significant development over the previous models. The other changes are 12-way memory heated seats in front with UVO link system for the remote features Another notable change is the extended 10-year warranty as compared to previous 5-year warranty that shows the confidence of the manufacturer in their product. 

 

The exterior and interior layout has completely been revamped with new LED lights and smarter looks, character lines on the body panels, low profile roof rails, sporty allow wheels. More dynamically designed smart interior layout with two-tone texture. Syntax breathable heated seats and chrome garish with a touch of piano black adds luxury to the already roomy and comfortable cabin.

Kia Sorento next generation is loaded with tech and convenience features and on top of that, fuel economy of a hatchback with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. The most noticeable feature is the introduction of a 1.6 L turbo plug-in hybrid model which can travel 32 miles on an electric charge only, thanks to its 66 kW electric motor that offer a combined millage of 79 MPGe. This reduces the carbon footprint in the environment and negates the range anxiety these gas guzzlers bring along with them. 

Sorento also comes with multiple cosmetic changes such as sleek and curvy LED lights that extend onto the sides of the grill and more defined character lines. These are auto-adjusting lights that adapt to the traffic and environment and are equipped with DRLs. Interior is more ergonomically designed with all new SynTex heated seats, Digital clusters with dual zone smart climate control, chrome and piano black garnishing and tech features. Most noticeable is UVO link that allows the owner to remote start-stop, lock-unlock and change the climate control settings of the vehicle with their phone. 

Tech and safety features like 10 Inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are standard on top trims, Front collision warning, lane keep assist with rear cross traffic alert, safe exit assist to help on highways and navigation integrated adaptive cruise control to keep the journey safe as well s comfortable. The Sorento now has Smart Airbags, which sense the impact of collision and deploy as required in order to sustain minimal injuries and provide maximum protection to the occupants.
